The Living Altar

A sanctuary for bodies that carry stories,
hearts that hold lineages, hands that create sacred space.

Therapeutic bodywork  •  Ancestral healing  •  Ceremonial practice  •  Altar creation

There are those who remember

2_edited_edited_edited_edited_edited.png
They light candles not because they were taught to, but because something in their bones knows this language. They arrange stones and shells on windowsills, gather flowers for no reason except that beauty calls to beauty.

For ten thousand generations, the keepers have gathered at thresholds. With earth in their hands and songs in their throats, they built sacred space from whatever they could find.

When the temples fell, they made altars in their kitchens. When the old ways were forbidden, they whispered prayers over bread and water. When their languages were taken, they spoke in symbols - a stone here, a candle there, a bowl of remembrance.

You carry this knowing.
It lives in your hands, in your hunger for ritual,
in the way you pause at beauty.
Your ancestors are teaching you still.
WELCOME & RESONANCE

Welcome to your sanctuary.

Here, your body that carries stories is honored.

Your heart that holds lineages is witnessed.
Your hands that long to create sacred space are guided home.

If you are tired of spiritual teachings that ask you to bypass your body, your rage, your questions, your complexity...

If you long for practices that honor your lineage without appropriating others'...

If something in you knows that the sacred was never meant

to be separate from the everyday...

This sanctuary is for you.

I'm Selina Borquez, and my work lives at the intersection of animism and devotion, memory and embodiment.

Here, I create culturally affirming sanctuary for BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ folx who know that our healing is collective. Where you don't have to shrink or translate. Where healing serves something larger than one life.

This is The Living Altar. Where you learn to build altars that anchor you—not as decoration, but as living practice that endures when the world shakes.

SACRED PATHWAYS

A ceremonial education in building and tending altar as living practice.

Begin at the altar.

This immersive journey guides you through altar creation, ritual rhythm, ancestral honoring, and embodied tending. Not as theory — as lived practice. Not as performance — as devotion.

Your ancestors kept altars. Even if the thread was broken, even if the stories were lost, the practice lives in your bones. This is your invitation to remember.

The Journey

Level 1: Altar as Sanctuary — Embodied Foundations
Your body is your first altar. Your hands hold ancient wisdom for creating sacred space. Learn to create sacred space that holds you through uncertainty. Build your first altar. This is where you begin. A poetic, embodied journey through the history, spirit, and creation of altars. Six modules that weave somatic practices, nervous system gentleness, earth honoring with practical creativity into a practice that becomes your anchor.

Level 2: Ancestor Reclamation
A journey in creating your ancestor honoring altar. This is about remembrance practices. Ritual remembrance. Cultural preservation. Seven modules that teach you to honor your lineage through beauty, offerings, and conscious reverence.

Designed for the seeker, the sensitive, the remembering one.

For Ancestral Healing work and connecting with your lineage lines, book a one one one session.
Burning Incense Stick

This work calls to those who:

  • Arrange objects without thinking, knowing they belong together...

  • Feel drawn to create beauty but don't know why...

  • Carry grief that has no name and joy that has no words...

  • Remember something they have never learned...

  • Know there is more to sacred than what they were taught...

  • If you are tired of spiritual teachings that ask you to bypass your body, your rage, your questions, your complexity...

  • Know that your individual healing and collective liberation
    are the same work...

You don't need to be "ready" or "advanced" or know anything about altars. You just need to feel the ancient pull toward beauty, memory, and sacred tending.

Your body already knows the way.

ABOUT

Selina Chacon-Borquez

The Living Altar is the culmination of a lifelong calling to bridge ancient wisdom with contemporary healing.

As a non-binary practitioner rooted in indigenous healing traditions, I offer decolonial, earth-honoring approaches that recognize healing as both deeply personal and inherently communal.

My practice weaves together the folk medicine knowledge passed down through my family lineage with formal therapeutic trainings and 20 years of experience as a Licensed Massage Therapist.

This unique foundation allows me to offer several distinct healing modalities that honor the interconnectedness of body, mind, spirit, ancestors, and earth.

My approach weaves:

- Archaeological evidence with lived experience

- Cultural reverence with personal authenticity

- Nervous system wisdom with spiritual practice

- Historical knowledge with embodied ritual

I don't teach from books (though I love learning) —I teach from bloodline, from earth, from the places where healing and devotion become indistinguishable.

This is trauma-informed, culturally respectful, historically grounded work for those ready to honor your inherited wisdom.

Beloved Voices

Yasmin.png
When I come to Selina with an intention or my awareness on a certain place in my body that is in pain or wants attention, I am awe struck at how, in the process of their work, they accesses the source below the source of the issue. Their ability to discern whether particular areas of the body are communicating a need for deep attention and release, if it has a story to tell, wants to be softly touched or witnessed, etc. is such a strength. They tend to the needs body is communicating with reverence and diligence. One of my favorite experiences with Selina is that they can intuitively hear the body asking for a practice to take home and integrate into my life and it feels like an unnamed longing that lands with me and opens up so much possibility. In this way, the session extends and the healing continues to unfold long after the session is over.
